Hazards

Hazards of The Tropical Rainforests

The tropical rain forest can be a beautiful place, but at the same time, it can be a dangerous place too. There are hazards in the rain forest and some of these include:

FLOODING- There are two seasons of flooding; high water flooding and low water flooding. There can be benefits from flooding, such as, to enrich soil, to give nutrients to rivers and to destroy pests. Low water floods create small flood plains. While, high water floods create big flood lakes. Flooding gives a hard time to ground animals and plants.

Case Study- 2012 Flooding in Brazil brings into Amazon Rain Forest, Created dirty water, the animals suffered.

Landslides- When trees are cut down, there will be nothing left to protect the ground. The soil washes away with the rain. The fishes suffer when water becomes cloudy. The water will be filled with silt. The rain forest will lose all the soil needed to support crops, and water becomes shallow.

Case Study- Malawi, Due to people constantly taking wood to cook, and the making of wood carvings, caused forest loss, and soil erosion, causing landslide.

Forest Fires/ Droughts- Causes when the weather temperature hits really high, then forests starts a fire. Also due to deforestation, sunlight shines directly to forest ground, causing forest fires and droughts.

Case Study- 2005 most droughts in Amazon, due to warm temperature and climate change of the Atlantic Ocean.
